Another tool for diagnostic imaging we can use here at All Seasons Veterinary Care is Radiography or X-Rays. X-Rays are a short burst of radiation that allows us to create detailed images of the inside of our furry friends’ bodies.

The great news is that the level of radiation used is very low, so it poses minimal risk when performed sparingly. Of course, daily X-Rays could lead to long-term complications, but we prioritize your pet’s health by using radiographs only when the diagnostic benefits greatly outweigh any small negatives.

Even pregnant dogs can safely receive X-Rays due to the low radiation levels! X-Rays are particularly helpful for viewing solid bone structures and areas with varying tissue densities. They’re a game-changer for distinguishing organs, locating foreign bodies or trapped air, and determining the size and shape of vital organs like the liver, kidneys, and spleen.

We often use this tool to identify bone abnormalities such as cracks or breaks—essential for ensuring our pets get the care they need! Remember, while X-Rays are powerful, they work best in conjunction with other imaging techniques and lab results for a comprehensive diagnosis.
